Through Off-Site Corporate PPA Model
Initiative Intended to Achieve a Decarbonized Society
DAIBIRU CORPORATION (President & CEO: Takashi Maruyama; Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka; hereinafter, the “Company”) announced today that it entered into an off-site corporate power purchase agreement (PPA*; hereinafter, the “Agreement”) with Daigas Energy Co., Ltd. (Chuo-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Hiroyoshi Fukutani), an agent for Osaka Gas Co., Ltd., to supply renewable energy to the Shin-Daibiru Building, Daibiru’s flagship building in Osaka. This project is one of Daibiru’s initiatives supporting the development of a decarbonized society.
The Agreement is scheduled to come into effect in April 2026. The adoption of an off-site corporate PPA represents a first for Daibiru and, under the Agreement, a new non-CO2 emitting solar power generation facility will be constructed for dedicated use by the Company. This will facilitate the realization of reduced environmental impacts and enable access to a stable supply of renewable energy over the long term.
For electric power other than that generated under the Agreement, the building will continue to use RE100-compliant electricity with non-fossil certificates (with tracking).
The Daibiru Group has incorporated “addressing environmental problems” into the Group Code of Conduct and has taken active measures until now including promoting energy saving and recycling and introducing emissions-free electricity. Along with the introduction of the off-site corporate PPA that was decided at this time, the Group will continue to take measures intended to support the development of a decarbonized society.
- * A type of contract whereby the power generator, which owns the renewable energy power source, and the power purchaser conclude a sale agreement in advance for specific renewable energy generated off-site and supplied to the purchaser through the general power grid.
